My sister got married at the Sandals in Montego Bay a few years ago and they loved it. She said most of the locals were nice but like any area it has its bad parts. There will always be people trying to sell you everything under the sun and scam you out of your last dollar. Just use common sense and you will be just fine. If you are total freak soccer mom type that loves the yellow curbs, warning signs every 5 feet and amber alert system you might as well stay on US soil though.

 

Got in from Jamaica today...the trip was AWESOME...I loved everything, with the exception of the allergic reaction that i am now having from either A. A coral sting, or B. I got too close to a bush that I am allergic to.....we had absolutley no trouble and all of the locals were VERY nice..we stayed in Montego Bay, but traveled to Negril and such..I was offered to buy drugs multiple times, but they actually seemed to take "no" pretty well...and I am fairly street smart so I really made out like a bandit at the local shops...lol If they wouldnt go down to $5 i wasnt buying...but most of them WILL go down to $5 if you just be stern, and walk away. Everything we did was a blast, yes it sucked to see the poverty, but the people are so friendly and appreciate the fact that you are giving their country tourism that its shockingly pleasant to be around all of them. We snorkled on a reef, and I bought an underwater camera (dont know how good of pics it took yet) but i saw a moray eel that was about 5ft long, a HUGE spiny puffer, and an Octopus...amongst tons of other fish that I wish i could put in my tank..lol (royal grammas, blue tangs, and more angels than I could ever imagine)...however i did see quite a few NON-Native lionfish lurking on the reef as well...I will upload more pics, but here is the view we had to deal with ALL week...dont u feel sorry for us
