So I am going out of town this weekend, leaving Friday morning. I will be feeding my fish Friday morning and I have some one coming by to turn the lights off later that day. I also have someone coming by to feed them on sat. What I do not have is a timer for my lights.

How I important is it that the lights aren't going to be on Saturday at all? Will this affect my corals?

They will be fine, people do blackouts on their tanks to rid algae with no coral loss. they sometimes do this for 3days or more.

1+ I shut my aquarium down and even covered the glass with black plastic for 3 1/2 days to get rid of cyano and it didn't harm anything but the cyano.

it shouldn't be an issue. i would definitely suggest a timer. this will make life much easier even when you are not out of town and is a pretty inexpensive add.

Depending on your evaporation situation don't forget to have your sitters do topoffs as well.

    Totally agree

My timers are the dial, Home Depot, lowes, Menards type. Get the ones that have two sockets.

I currently have 3 of them, 1 blues, 1 whites, and 1 for my lights on my chaeto in the sump, running opposite my DT lights.

    They are inexpensive
