So my parents are getting our house redone, so the electric company needs to turn off the power for a couple of days *don't know how long yet*

My tank is still cycling, how bad would the no power affect the cycle with no flow? i'm not going to setup my skimmer when it comes tomorrow because i'm worried something might go wrong. My puffer wont have anything on in his tank, hopefully he won't mind it to much. But with my tank still cycling should there not be a big problem with having no power for a couple of days?

Your going to have oxygen issues. And I don't know how the climate is where you live. Temp. may also be another issue. I would be worried after a few hours without an airstone/powerhead.
EDIT: I know how the climate is where you live8)......

it's been pretty hot around here as far as weather goes, i don't have anything to tell what temp the tank is at yet, just the heater set at i think 76 and the tank has the flow from the filter and two powerheads

also, how far will being without power for a few days set back my cycle? Their hoping it will only take one day to do whatever they need to do, sounds like they may start on Saturday

no generators?? I would be concerned about the flow in the tank. I agree with mission, you may have some oxygen issues. I dunno, I've never gone through this before.

yup no generators, the entire house will be without power, so we're hoping it's only going to be for one day, the electric company originally said that we were going to be without power for 2-4 days, but our contractor said he would not let us be without power for that long, so maybe just for one day

If you live in town maybe your neighbor would be genorous enough to let you run a line from there house? I am also to the understanding that you will not need a skimmer until after you have finished your cycle and have some fish in the tank. I can't call any names but a very experienced user here once stated they waited a couple month's before running their Skimmer as in the cycle there is no bio-Load....Quot me if I am wrong, I will find the link and post it here tomorrow, right now I am going to crash....Good Luck Puffer....

Id at least get a battery opperated air stone or some thing, try and find out how long bc more then one day is not good, there will be no gas exchange possible with out water movement

I second the battery operated airstone. I was without power for a day and the tank did fine with the air stone and didn't go above 80 degrees. Good luck

+1 battery operated airstone. I have had dozens of temporary setups for freshwater, mostly feeder tanks. When I was just started I knew nothing about air/gas exchange. I would setup a small holding tank with no pumps, airstones or filter with a few fish and the next day all the fish were always dead. Had no idea why.

Oxygen is very important to any aquarium. If your going to be without powr for a few days, you better get an airstone....I would recommend getting one regardless for future emergencies. Otherwise, when the power goes out your going to have to constantly have 2 hands in the water stirring it...lol!
