how valid is this? In my "dumber years" I would have probably tried something like this.. I could see it backfiring somehow though..

On of my friends got out of a ticket by crying and wailing
"OH thank GOD officer! He's been FOLLOWING me for the past few hours!!!"
She tried to act as shaken as possible. When the officer asked her what the problem was and she told him it was an ex Boyfriend and that he kept following her around. She explained that she had just moved and didn't want him to know where she now lived because he was stalking her and she was in the process of getting a personal protection order against him.
Of course this was all a bunch of bunk, but the officer promptly turned on his lights and escorted her home. He made sure she got inside safely and told her to call if there was any more trouble.
I suppose this only works if your a pretty girl thats good at thinking up a quick lie.Lol.

I've never been caught speeding :) *knock on wood*

I've had 3 parking tickets because where I worked last summer didn't supply employee parking in the heart of downtown. So, 2 tickets were after school once where the parking meters stop at 4:30, and it was 3:15 or so. Apparently I messed the time up or didn't put the right money in or something...but I had 2 tickets after work. One for 3:30 and one for 4:28 >.< We called and apparently they can give a ticket every hour or something, even if I'm at work and don't know about it. which was absolutely stupid.

the second parking ticket was when a tree partially covered the "police parking only" sign ::) I saw a parking spot and grabbed it. Parking is a dog eat dog world down town :D

Ya know... I'm not arguing against this... but to me, a suit screams your trying to hard. Some folks wear suits and that's fine. But a lot of folks don't and when they wear one once or twice every few years (wedding, funeral, court), well, it's always obvious to me who pulls the suit out rarely. Ever watch Judge Judy? I only bring it up bc it's a good example of some folks who just don't know how to wear a suit and just look silly.

I agree dress nice, but I never over do it. I dress business, not formal. It's always worked for me.

Respect, manners, "your honour", etc. all do go a long way.

congrats! I have never failed to get a reduction of some sort... just have to ask and show up. They just want you to take responsibility and show up! Amazing how many folks don't show up.

Honestly, I do not believe you have found that. This is a chain letter that has been circulating for over ten years. Snopes has debunked it.

    snopes.com: Overpaying Traffic Tickets

Your ticket is processed before you pay it... otherwise they'd have no record to apply your payment towards.

I like Peredhil's "dress business, not formal" advice for anything court related. I'd probably just dress in some khaki dress pants, a white button down, dress shoes, and a tie. No suits or tuxes for me. ;)
