I got this fish from the LFS today. They said it was an Orange-spotted rabbitfish. I think it looks more like a gold-spotted rabbitfish though.

Any ideas? Should this go in the I.D. subforum?

It looks like a Gold spotted Rabbit fish to me. I just looked it up in the marine Fishes book and it is a good match.

Rarity, and there for price. If it is a gold-spotted I paid $20 less than I would have on liveaquaria, if it is a orange-spotted I paid $10 less.

I think it is a gold-spotted. He is an awesome fish. When I have had him longer and get to know his personality I want to write a FOTM about him.

Thanks! They are really cool fish. They change colors when they are ticked or scared. I named mine Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde. They turn like brown and black, my mom was mad when she first saw him because we just brought him home and he was scared. She said it looked ugly. I think he looks cool.

They are algae eating machines. In the <24 hours I had him, he polished off my hair algae and two algae clips with the help of a yellow tang. He doesn't care for pellets or frozen food much, but he eats them.
