Wife wanted to trade in the Clarkie we have/had. He was very mean as she put it. Actually he was very aggressive toward every fish in the tank. So we took him to a local and traded him for a gold stripe maroon about an 1 1/2". Actually smaller than the clarkie by a 1/2"

Anyway, we went to feed him tonight for the first time...gave him time to acclimate to the new tank since yesterday. He took the food in his mouth and spit it back out. He did this with the flake, pellets, brine and mysid that we tried. I also tried some frozen algae that he did the same with. Should we be concerned at this point or is this normal? He is a very pretty fish with great colors and would hate to lose him.

As always, everyone's help is appreciated.

    Thank you,

Todd & Elizabeth (wife of course) ;)

HA! You thought your Clarkii was mean???!!!!!! Did you happen to mention to the LFS that you were looking for a LESS aggressive fish!???? Cause they did not help you out I am sorry to say!

    1. They get to be about 6 inches long

    2. They are as aggressive as they get!

    (sorry....not very tactful, am I) :-/

    OOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPSSSSSSSS.

I hate when that happens. I guess is he gets to bad he can go in with the puffers in the 75g. I bet he won't be aggressive there.

So far he has been fine. Not bothering any of the fish. Maybe since he is small and all the other fish are bigger then he is, it will be ok. Guess we will see.

My concern now is the eating though. Hopefully that will change.

I imagine when it gets hungry enough, it will eat. I had one before...really pretty fish...it ate everything! ;)

What else do you have in the tank with it?

Flame Angel,Scopas Tang, pink spotted goby, 3 green chromis.

He has not bothered any of the fish. Kinda stays in the front right corner of the tank and does his own thing. He has yet to go to the anemone either. I heard they can survive without one anyway.

Guess time will tell on him. I have the 75g for him if need be I guess.

Thanks for the help Birdlady. You are a true asset to 3Reef.

    Todd

Karma for you on these 2 topics I posted also.

Oh, no not me. I am just passing on what I have gleaned from others here and there! ;)
Plus, what else would I do for hours every nite if I wasn't here!

    Thanks!

You have a point with the hours free at night...LOL

Been far and few between for me lately, but I have managed some time today to read posts on here and of course ask my questions.

Thanks again Birdlady. I do appreciate your time with me.

Clown still not eating. Cause for concern or just let him settle into the tank?

He will put it in his mouth and chew it from what it looks like, but will spit it back out.

I have tried several types of food also to no avail. Mysis, brine, flake, pellets, (2 types) and even tried some blood worms just to see.

No worries anymore. I got some cyclopeeze and the clown ate that stuff up right away. I'm sure in time he will eat what is offered. I hope so anyway.

Thanks for everyon'es time on this issue.
