Is it normal for my clownfish to try and host my metallic green flowerpot?

They can harm corals trying to host them. Just keep a eye on the coral.

Mine has never seemed to cause any damage, but have several corals they will run in and out of.

It depends on the coral. My torch hated the clowns trying to host in it. Almost killed it. But now they are in a patch of zoa's. The zoa's have lost some color, but thats about it. They seem to tolerate each other fairly well.

Well, we got up this morning, and the fish is still in the flowerpot. He normally stays behind the filter at night, but apparently he slept with his new pal. The flowerpot hasn't really opened up that much. As soon as it starts to come out, he's fluttering up against. Then it retracts back in. I don't want him to kill the coral. Is there anything I can do? Buy him something else to host? Or will he not mess with anything else because he already has a new home? Just a couple of questions. lol

Clowns are known to nibble at the corals/anemones they are hosting. My 2 maroons have chewed off a good 80% of the tentacles on their anemone. It stressed the anemone out so much it shows signs of bleaching and recession. Not much you can really do, other than sectioning off the coral where the fish cannot harass it anymore.
You can try to buy a decent sized entimacea quadricolor (BTA) since you have a maroon and see if he will prefer to live in that. Keep it on the other end of the tank to keep the two corals from starting chemical warfare on each other.

I had two clowns in my 75 that were in my very large finger leather, it did not like them being there so he never opened and he started to get some skin disease. So I pulled him out and put him in my 85 and he didnt heal, so I had to frag hm into 4-5 pcs. I have a clown in my 85 that is hosting with my duncans and they dont mind each other.

It seems to be doing better now. Don't get me wrong, Reeses is still all about the flowerpot. It opens up now though. Sometimes so much that you can't even see him fluttering around in there.
