Hi, i had a goni in my tank that really opened up under my lighting compared to when it was at the lfs, so much so that i had to take it back it was just to big, but not before it had a baby about 2mm, its been in there now for a little over a month and is growing well, its about 5mm wide now and has doubled its polyps, have to keep it in a very low flow area, or it floats off...

I have heard that they require MH to thrive, but may be able to be sustained under T5's. I remember the guy on nanoreef that was actually cultivating them. Kept them under strong MH's and low flow, fed every single polyp like once a day or something. Definitely read up on them, it would be cool to see some success with such a difficult yet beautiful animal.

Here is the pic of the Goniopora, I have it a little higher toward the top, just a better spot and thought the stronger light may help....

It looks like a goniopora stokesi.
I had one that was alive for 9-10 months near the middle of my 55 with PCs and med flow, but it started bleaching and not extending polyps so much after 10 months, so into the bleach it went while I was nuking some LR I bought for the 180. Now the goni is a nice little base-ball sized piece of rock for my sump. I'm not one to target feed so much as I'm sure there aren't divers target feeding every live goniopora in the ocean.
I'm also baby-sitting another goni for the time being, which is doing much better than the first one I had.
