I got this from a friend about 10 days ago. He had it on the exact opposite light cycle. It seems that it finally has acclimated and doesn't look too good. What can I do? My tank is healthy and I have lost only about three corals ever. I gave it high light and medium constant flow. My calcium is fine and no excess nutrients. But I heard they may benefit from nitrates and less then perfect water. It was being hosted by my friends clowns for a while before I finally talked him into putting it into my tank. Was shut all the time. [IMG]

I heard many things from target feed cyclopese to supplementing iron and manganese.
Most don't have any luck keeping them alive. Mine is still ok after 3-4 months, and I feed it nothing other than what it may filter from my tanks water. Good luck.

The nutrient level of the water and the muddy silt filled bottom and the heat and sun light they need to keep them is nothing you'd want in a reef tank , I or anyone I ever knew ever had success with them bout 2 yrs was all I could do , The coral is best suited for a mud bottom refugium really just keep it's water temps in the mid 80's Good luck

WOW. I heard they like poor conditions. Should I give it back? Will it hurt my tank if it starts to die?

It needs to be on the bottom on the sand , But it will fail you will see it to start and recede its flesh at the bottom of the skeleton it will start to just fade away Its won't wipe the tank out so that would never bother me But you will not Be the first to watch one fade away . I myself wish they would stop separating hobbyist from their money by selling them.

I've been down this road and never again. I think mine lasted all of two weeks before it died. It's the only thing I've ever seen host my clowns though and as soon as I put it in there the clown literally dove in it.

i have heard the red and purple ones are more hardier than the others and the price reflects it i tryed a couple years ago and the longest one lasted 6 months and as tangster said they tend to slowly waste away the alveopora are much better .
