I've never heard of that, can you provide a link to the 12v cord dimmers for led's, that would be a huge problem solver/money saver!

The connecting Dimers are are all over eBay and Amazon... I also ordered a couple custom ones online as well for the tanks I didn't already have lights for. I got a custom hanging stainless LED fixture from Infinite Reef and a 20" custom bamboo LED from RR...They awesome and I would definitely recommend both if your not up for a DIY project. I'm great at DIY stuff, just wish I had more time to do it all... Sometimes time is money. Here is the simple connector link if you already have a light!

Hopefully posting that won't get me in trouble.

also no matter what be prepared for baby seahorses, because no matter what they will breed and you need to be ready when they do. the babies are so tiny they are nearly impossible to keep track of though.

That's funny, all (6) my seahorse tanks are lit with a timer so lights come on abruptly and go out abruptly. They are completely in the dark overnight.
In my 10 years on seahorse.org, I've not seen any posts with that information.

What preparation do you need? I leave mine in the tank and they eat the same enriched bbs that the adults do.
The dwarf fry are about the size of my erectus fry, and larger than my reidi fry.

As far as I've seen it was researched for a while to see if it could in fact increase their lifespan and only fairly recently has been considered more of a standard in seahorse keeping. I had a similar set up like yours for years before. However after switching my lighting set ups around my seahorses color brightened up and they also started breeding & courting more often. I'm sure you'll be seeing it more in the future. Technology and new scientific studies are finding out more about these fascinating creatures everyday! My friend is testing a new system that allows you to check all the parameters and control all the settings in the aquarium through an app or iOS. New stuff always amazes me.

abrupt changes in lighting are very unnatural for any fish. fish as delicate as seahorses can be affected greatly.

I agree. I speculated the theory until I saw the difference for myself. When you see change in their moods, color, breeding, even eating all at once its hard to say it was not the main contributing factor. All I can say is test the theory for yourself and see if there is a change. Remember when it was unheard of to put LED's on any saltwater/marine tank, and laughed at when even LED and reef tank were in the same sentence... I surly do! Times have changed. I love LED's for seahorses little to NO heat plays a huge factor! I spend hundreds in the past on chillers! Thankfully those days are OVER... Evolve and adapt.

With all the new technology that is scientifically proven to create a better living environment for any creature its hard to stick with old school outdated methods.

ok, I looked up those dimmers, but not sure how they are going to help unless I manually turn them off and on every day manually. Damn it I wish i didn't just ship that typhoon controller from boost, couldve modded that.
