Unless your home gets below 68° for long periods of time, you WON'T need a heater for seahorses. Most people have trouble because they allow their homes to go above 74° in the summer and then the tanks may get a little warmer due to equipment such as filters and lights.

Yeah I second that. Thanks for the help and those tanks are great, but I'm going the KISS method for this. Seahorses seem like enough work as is;)

Yeah, I'm actually going to keep this tank in my basement where it stays cooler and a more constant temp. It always floats between 68-72 down there regardless of outside temp/AC/heat.

and of course, my tank wouldn't be complete without an excellent addition from my son;)

So I have a question, I ordered stuff to make 3 brine shrimp hatchery's, and plan on ordering decapsulated brine shrimp, but it seems rather easy to do that yourself. Has anyone had success doing it yourself?

Decapping is a PITA but it makes the hatch happen a bit faster and it lessens the chances of getting hydroids in the tank.
You could also sterilize the cysts before hatching which is just a lot less bleach for about the same time period.
There are many people decapping because it virtually eliminates the possibility of small fry blocking the digestive tracts with empty cysts.
I used to do it a lot but I've somehow drifted back to just sterilizing the cysts before I hatch them.
If you Google "decapping artemia" you will get a myriad of hits on decapping with many virtually the same except for amount of bleach and duration of bleach stage. Some use ammonia blockers after but I just rinse under the running cold water tap for four minutes or more and never needed anything other than that to handle the bleach removal.
There are quite a few places now selling decapped cysts but you have to be sure that they are the HATCHING ones, not the non hatch version.
As for what you ordered, the hitching grass will work well but the blue and coral coloured skeletons may be too thick for dwarfs to want to hitch to.
I use those in my standard seahorse tanks but for some reason the standards aren't too fond of them either.

Haha, thanks, but going then I have to order the more expensive horses;)

Thanks rayjay, I'm gonna buy decapped for now, it seems like a month supply is about $10, and see how it goes, I looked up decapping, and it doesn't seem too bad, but maybe not worth the hassle.
And yeah, I'm hoping those corals will work, they had a pic with someones hand in it that made them look pretty small. I also have 2 other kinds of grass coming too.

Now I just need to cycle and decide where I'm gonna order them from. Saltcritters has them for $10/piece and are tank raised. Ebay has them for ALOT cheaper, got an offer of 12 for $34, but I need to check the places out.
    Any experience with online vendors?
