Water Blaster, Ocean Runner or Eheim are my choices. I have used both of the latter two with great results and am considering the former as a replacement in the future.

Eheims are awesome... but expensive. I have had great results from the Maxi-jet Utility pumps.

Isn't Danner the same company as Mag?

If so, I'd say they are reliable. I've had my Mag 3 for more than 3 years without any issues. Good pump, but not the most energy efficient. Eheims are a much better pump if you are looking at long term energy savings. If the Mag 3 ever dies, I'd go Eheim to replace it as the initial cost will be made up over time in the amount of electricity saved.

Danner Mags run hot, use more power than many others and are noisy as all get out but reliable. I would look for one of the ones I suggested, lower power consumption, much less heat transfer to the water and almost silent. A return pump runs 24/7/365 so get the most efficient you can afford, it will pay for itself over time.

Eheim!!! Mine runs quiet and cool! Got a great deal on it by signing up for a BRS group buy. Keep an eye out for one and you can get a pretty good deal.
