Looking to buy a sump for the 90gal build. Found an almost new Cadlights 30gal sump that comes with heir 70 and 100gal tanks. It's all glass and I can get it for $100.

Anyone use the Cadlights systems and sumps before? How do you like the sump system on the tank?

The thing is its set up completely different then other sumps I've seen with both the far right and middle. Baffles going up to the top of the tank and the middle section with bubble traps controlling the height. I'm not sure I follow exactly how it works to prevent floods

Can go wrong with $100. Assuming you'll still need to buy a pump

I have a pump, a Waveline DC-6000 already purchased and sitting in a box along with the Reef Octopus Skimmer

The overflow controls floods; its a herbie type in the picture.
The water enters the skimmer chamber then runs through a shallow area ideal for your refuge then through the trap to the pump chamber. My sump was setup identically and worked very well.

Thanks Vinney. I have a Durso overflow so it would work just as well. To prevent floods even if it did siphon the most it can dain is like 2inches from the DT which would fit in the sump as long as I dont fill the sump to the brim.

If the Durso pipe clogged, exactly what from the sump would empty? The first chamber stays full, the second chamber down to the top of the bubbble breaker, and the return chamber as low as the pump can operate before going dry right?

It would empty the entire sump to the height of the last trap before the pump. Then empty the return pump chamber.Your skimmer pump would still be fine though.Carpet/flooring??maybe not.:)
