Hey everyone, so i'm trying to figure out the best combination of inverts to put in the tank i will be starting(hopefully soon). The tank will be a 100G reef with most likely 130+ lbs of live rock and obviously a good amount of LS. The bioload won't be too bad, probably a pair of clowns, a firefish, gramma, cardinal and a tang (yellow or blue). I'm trying to avoid the annoying algae and just overall to keep the tank really clean. Any thoughts on how many or what kinds of hermit crabs, snails, or shrimp??

    Thanks guys

I'd say get about 30-40 snails, 25 nassarius snails, 20 scarlet legged hermits, and a cleaner shrimp for your tang.

I would stay away from the coral banded shrimp.

30-40 snails total including the nassarius? or 30-40 plus an additional 25 nassarius? I hope they wouldn't all stick to the glass lol

30- 40 snails and 25 additional Nassarius. The nassarius will usually be hidden in the sand except when food is introduced.

oh ok cool thats what i thought i was just concerned that there would be too many, but it is a 100G after all lol. What do you think of the astrea snail or the spiny star astrea? I alos posted another thread about some other various inverts. any opinion would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

snails do a great job but i find crabs clean much more thouroghly.... snails can somtimes filp over and get stuck upsidedown waiting to become lunch, and crabs are just iggnorant and tip over every delicate peice of rockwork or coral you ever get haha lil jerks!
