A local getting out of the hobby and is selling a lot of stuff. He has a Halide fixture for sale and I started asking questions. This is the fixture for sale:
Hamilton Technology 48 inch Metal Halide Fixtures T5 HO Belize Sun

He says the fixture is 6 months old and in good shape. The halide bulbs have recently been replaced, but the T5's need to be replaced. I think I have got him down to $225 cash. Sound like a good deal? I have heard a lot of good things about Hamilton Tech.

Sounds like an awesome deal IMO. As long as its in good shape and works right I would say get it.

its not 6 months old if the mh bulbs have "been changed recently" and the t5's dont work! with mh if the ballast go there arent cheap to replace. i havent seen hamiltion lights for sale locally for a while. i would guess the unit to be a few years old.

That's not automatically true, you should replace MH bulbs about every 9 months and he could have used older T5 bulbs to start with. It does raise a good point, but it doesn't mean the fixture is a few years old.
