What's a good inexpensive skimmer for a 30 gallon tank?

odyssea skimmer its the one rated for a 75 gallon tank, I used in on my 20 gallon tank and it worked well for the tank.

I have exactly 30 gallons of water volume and I have been trying a few different skimmers lately.

    DO you have a sump?

    If so...

I was very happy with my Bubble Magus NAC6:

Then I moved things around in my sump and needed one with a smaller footprint.

So I picked up a Warner Marine MF-121. It churns. However I am having a bit of problem with restart and have to dial it in again each time. I am getting a new impeller soon.

I also have a Cad Lights Pipeless skimmer in route - this has a very small footprint of less than 5" square. I look forward to testing it out.

Hope this helps. Each of the above cost me less than $200 each.

I had a sump for my 135 that I'm in the process of trying to sell. I just want to do a 30 now w/out a sump. Any suggestions for HOB skimmers? Thanks for all the info.

+1 on that, I have the skimmer/fuge combo right now on my 29 gallon for over a year. The only problem I had was the pump quit working correctly. Basically if it stopped for any reason it would not automatically re-start, so I bought a new pump which was $8. I bought the combo for $75 off ebay and I have a 2 watt full spectrum LED light on the top for $30, check out my zetlight video (23) for more information and some pics of it in action! Works great!

SWC, Aquamaxx, and Warner Marine had some nice HOBs that I have seen.

I have a couple of Eshopps HOB skimmers (75 on my 28 nano and 100 on my 46 bow) and like them a lot so far. I have only had them for about a month, but after about a 1-week break-in, they both produce a good amount of skimmate (appropriate for the tank inhabitants). Stay away from the Coralife 65! I just replaced mine with the PSK-100H after I was completely fed up with it.
