i have a pretty good store about 10-15 miles from me. i only like buying from 2 or 3 of the guys there though, the others are typical fish store guys. descent prices, healthy fish, large selection of fish and supplies. there are a few others by me too that i frequent, but just for the prices and selection sometimes.

King Ed's is the closest to me. But im wondering why u NEVER go to King Ed's?
If you had or heard of negative things about the shop id like to know for personal reasons. I really only get my coral frags from them. can usually bargain for a deal with em because most of their frags are from customer trades.

as far as their staff... not so helpful except the old guy who deals with the marine corner.he seems quite knowledgable but he's also a "salesman"

ive NEVER been to big Al's. Whats your take on that location any good? How is their livestock?

The closest one to me is about 30 mins away, and they are ok at best. Then I have one that is about an hour from me, pretty good shop very knowledgable but expensive would be an understatement. Then there are a few in Victoria but it's just to far. When I'm in Vancouver I usually go to J&L, also a place in surrey called Rogers. Next time tho I am def planning a trip to OA, King Ed's and Big Al's, just to check them out. There is also another place called Fish World, but I stay away from that store.

Inland is 2 hrs from me. They have some nice stuff but are really expensive too.

Anytime you have the money to get rid of I'll ride along. Don't guess KOgle will want to go anymore......we can call him a quitter now.

Looks like majority have a long ways to go to get to LFS.

Appears to be great opportunity to start your own if so inclined.

Just keep in mind characteristics of a good LFS in initial post.

DO IT! ---- the world is always in need of responsible SW fish suppliers.

i have the same problem, Picture Perfect is within a 7 min drive away. and they have really grown, they now sell great frags, lots of healthy tanks. the know me, accutally i have multiple friends that work there. Not to mention my buddies g/f gets $80 corals for twenty bucks!! i wonder why;D. the really crappy part is it doesnt work with my g/f yet. mabye i need to rethink her outfits. lol

But there is two other LFS i that i vist, on is 20 min , and the other is hour dive to San Jose, King Aquariums, which has cheep prices. the problem is they all think of tanks in a different manner, so i get different advice from all three places. its funny to see the different answers i get to the same question.

Ok another trip to one of the LFS' results in a nightmare and me walking straight the $#%* out, I walk in, looking at some zoa frags, then i notice a roach run across the front glass of the tank, say something to the guy that runs the place and he's like, yeah we're about to bomb for them again, then the "culligan man" pulls up with their R/O so I think i'm officially done with that store
