    I wouldn't do Power Compacts, they're getting phased out of the hobby slowly it seems, the bulbs don't last very long and don't put out as much light as T5's/MH. Can't comment on the MH option I don't have a lot of experience with them.

    Stay away from the PC especially if you want to convert into a reef down the road. I have a 24 gallon with 2x36 on it and its really hard to get stuff to grow that isn't near the top. I just got t-5's from my 10 gallon though...can't wait to put corals in....

    i love my metal halide lighting. it lights up everything. they are more expensive but well worth it. i got mine for sale for around 125 dollars. they give my tank aroun 5 watts per gallon. just my .02
