Lets see how many people say I'm crazy and hoping your house will catch fire :-X.

I have 2 Odyssea MH fixtures and love them. Cheap, look great, and haven't a single problem with either in the couple years I've had 'em.

    Let the bashing begin....;D.

Since they fixed the issues years ago they work just fine.

Retrofit kit will be your cheapest way. either build a canopy or pendant. you could do a 150w,175w,or 250w. if not deep then 150/175 would work. hellolights.com has good retrofit deals.

    29 not a 30.

Like night-rida said, a retro would be best. Odysea makes decent MH fixtures cheaply. They work. Not the best, but they do their job.

I would get a 175w mogul type mh bulb/ballast. that will give you good coverage and par. since your tank is also shallow.

if this is going to be the only lighting on tank, i would recommend a 14k bulb. that way you dont have to get actinics seperate.

i use a Hamilton bimini 250w, they make a 150w which is more suited for you. 250w is overkill for my 37g, works great. it comes with arms to hang over the back of the tank.

you can get them for around $150-175
