    just a little more info!

I'm returning to marine after a two year break!

previously had a 240litre bow fronted tank, very modest setup and extremely basic, but worked very well and only had 1 fatality in nearly 2 years of running (death due to fish getting stuck behind filter!) all other fish and crabs were sold on with the tank as a whole to a lovely couple from Leigh on Sea when my marriage broke down. Yes the marine tank outlasted my marriage!! lol!!

my new tank is a smaller 150 litre Fluval Tank, im starting from a complete fresh start, all I've got so far is a heater and the built in twin lights in the lid, and a Fluval 3 filter (this will be sold on!) i brought the lot second had for £35 pounds! Bargain lol!

i also have a 50 litre tank which i got for free as the sealing isnt briliant (will re-seal first!), I'm thinking of going the sump route and useing this tank as the sump, only thing is i dont want to go drilling the large tank!! hopefully i will find a way of drawing the water from the top of the tank, to the sump which will be filled with live rock, then out the sump to a large external filter than back in to the tank, probably a couple of power heads in the tank also, but i want as litle in tank 'components' as possible!

if anyone is aware of a system like this (non drilled sump setup) please let me know by I/M!

anyway that is enough from me!!

    Tony

Hello and welcome from an expat now living in the States. If you look around there are tons of external overflow boxes that will enable you to achieve this. Something like this would suit you Reef Aquarium Filtration: Eshopps Overflow Boxes. I would advise if possible you find a local knowledgeable fish store to assist you. Yes they do exist !
I recall a really decent one at the Elephant and Castle bit far from you depending where you are in Essex. The people on these boards will give you tons of feedback :) Welcome and enjoy reefing.
