Although the ferret ban is outdated, this ban makes sense to me. California spent 6 years and 7 million dollars cleaning up infestations near San Diego and Los Angeles.

When these species find their way into Californias water they endanger native sea weed and animals by their rapid growth and ability to take over large areas.

This law is actually based on outbreaks the state has spent millions on to eradicate them from the waterways.

Stupid people aren't limited by state. There are so many stupid people here in California that it makes me want to pull my hair out.

I actually had a friend do 2 months in county for owning a ferret. Lost his job, place, and everything over it. Stupid law that has equally stupid enforcement.
I myself had to do community service for having too many rounds of ammunition at one time.
    I now enjoy a life full of macro's, ferret's, and ammo ;)

how is that not cruel and unusual punishment. he basically had his life ruined for a while because he owned a rodent. its like the RIAA lawsuits(i won't get into the issue of pirating) but they get charged 2000 dollars per song. thats cruel, many of the infringers are children, download one album thats 25000 dollars, punishment doesn't fit the crime in my opinion.

well yes as all of us californians do suffer with stupid laws, there are reports that lawmakers are looking into lifting the ban on ferrets. the pet stores are carrying more ferret stuff in hopes the ban will be lifted.............but id say about 90% of the people here are stupid and id rather have a ferret over crowding than let some of these people breed
