i wouldn't waste the money on a chiller if you dont think it is necessary. i just recently installed 600watts of power (halides+T5) on my girlfriends mother's tank and we are using a cheap little clamp on 6 in fan to cool her 75gallon. it keeps it cool enough at 80. cooling through evaporation; much cheaper than a chiller. give it a try. i like to keep my tank around 78-80 degrees. good luck hope this helps.

Please update your profile (see below) it is hard to make recommendations without knowing what you are running.

In example, if you are running a sump a fan could be all you need to cool the tank. If the tank isn't RR a chiller might be in order. A 55 probably doesn't need a chiller unless you have something odd going on. Maybe a hood with big lights and no ventilation.

BTW, turning off the AC in the summer with no chiller is a coral killer.

Ok... I have added my signature hope it appears.. I used a small 5" desk fan today on the top of the tank between the lighting and the tank it keep it between 80.0-80.9 all day. :) I am looking for other suggests about anything more permanent. I am looking at upgrading my tank in about 8-12months. I think that I will look into a chiller for that new tank as it will be a 233 Tall 60Lx30Wx30H.. What size chiller should I expect to buy for this size tank?? or would some kind of fan system work for that tank as well? Considering that the summer only last about 2 months around here is why I am having second thoughts about investing in a chiller.
