I loved my Diamond but they make a Lot of mess with the sand around the tank. If you aren't worried about the sand being everywhere they are great sifters. Otherwise you might think about things like sand sifting starfish or nassarisus snails.

I agree with cannedmulder, I had a diamond goby that did an amazing job at keeping the sand clean. The only downside was the dust that he would kick up.

Never had a sand shifter before. Most of the gear shifters that I've dealt with have been made of metal with a plastic end=)

I tried a lot of sand snails and a star, but they are pretty slow at cleaning up. I had them in there for weeks and could only see a small difference. I bought a diamond goby(cost about the same as the snail/star crew) and within 2 days he had made himself a home and my sand look brand new. It is true that he makes a few small sand storms but nothing major yet.

Just a reminder, make sure there is no way that he can escape. They do like to carpet surf.

You would probably get some good sized sand storms with light sand in a small tank. I believe 29 gallon is probably too small for a diamond goby anyway.

hm..well if diamond goby is too big for my tank, then what would be a good sand sifting goby? And also what are some good sand sifting starfish? Do starfish require good lighting? cuz i am using biocube stock lighting
