I need recommendations on a good skimmer with a small footprint.
I have a Neo Nano aquarium with a neo nano sump.
The problem is the sump has a divider in the middle preventing really big skimmers - a skimmer can only have a short width of 7" or less.

So looking into it a bit, so far the only one I've found is the MRC Ocean Force 100:
Ocean Force 100 - New Protein Skimmer for your reef aquarium. My Reef Creations

It's 300 bucks though and a bit larger than I need probably for a 30 gallon tank.

    Any recs?

The Octopus 110 might do it:
    Reef Specialty

Hmm.. and I can feed it from one of the two overflows.

We love our Octopus. We started with a used Berlin skimmer, and we didn't even have proper room for our return pump with that thing. It was huge.

With our octo, not only did we have room for the return to sit normally, we also had room for a pump for a phos reactor and we still have plenty of legroom in there. And it skims better than the Berlin ever did.

Ours is the RO NWB 110. It has a small footprint, but different websites are saying different dimmensions, so I'll measure it myself when I can.

The boy beat me to it! This is what I was going to suggest - nice skimmer, small footprint. :)

How do you like it? Does it pull a think skimmate or a liquidy one? What does the water level have to be in the sump for it to function properly? photos please

That is an interesting skimmer Jack. Thanks!
Looks like it needs a fairly deep sump for optimum performance (9" - 13") - I will have to figure out the height of water in the Neo Nano Sump first it looks like before I buy a skimmer.

I've been looking at this some more Jack. Karma for letting me know about it, I think I am going to pull the trigger today.

    Why this skimmer?

    1) Small footprint and height (less than 20") will fit my sump and stand much better than alternatives.
    2) Plug and play much more attractive than some of the hijinx I was thinking about with the recirculating Octopus skimmer.
    3) 500 LPH!
    6) It looks as though it can be completely disassembled allowing cleaning of main tube.
    7) 6" diameter of main tube.
    8) PRICE! At $156 - this is A LOT of skimmer for the money.
    9) They take PayPal!
