Is your tank glass or acrylic? Acrylic won't bond to glass with silicon. But if your tank is acrylic, game on, woking with weld-on can be a pain to get a solid joint.

I made a sump out of a 10 gal and used silicone on both sides of the acrylic dividers and it worked for me. It was a glass tank and with silicone on both sides and on the ends its solid as a rock. after curing, i could pick up the whole sume with one of the dividers and no problem. On the other hand, is t a 10 gal and i just bought a 240 tank with a 55 gal tank for a sump that need to be converted too.

Ditto....this guy is the guru of sump/fuge design.

And while silicone doesn't work with bonding/attaching glass & acrylic for an outside wall, an inside baffle/divider is no problem. That's what I did. Holding fine as we speak.

As did I. Got some really great ideas from there, as well as in the DIY, and Refuguim sections here. Thats how I built mine, also using the aquarium safe silicone.
