As some of you may know, I wanted to set up a 55 gal mixed reef tank. That idea is dead. At 16, no job, and nobody hiring, I just can’t afford to drop $1,000 + on a tank. And my nano is horrible, the hair algae is coming back, my ph is low, and I can’t afford to buy new bulbs. I’m not positive yet, but I’ll probably move what coral I can from my nano, to my pico, then sell all my nano equipment, and then spend the money on my leopard geckos. So I’ll be mostly reptile, and freshy, with a 2.5 gal pico.

    Again, I’m not positive,

Hate to see you go, but on the other while your away you can gain more knowledge about the salt water world and then come back stronger than ever. So, until that time comes just enjoy life.

    I’ve lost…
    6 clownfish
    2 dozen snails
    about 20 blue leg hermits
    1 blue angel
    1 chocolate chip starfish
    4 corals
    1 Mexican turbo snail
    1 peppermint shrimp
    1 skunk cleaner shrimp
    And 1 silver molly
And this month, I’ve only been in the hobby for one year.

Sad to see you leave this great hobby but as someone else said, when you come back you'll have the knowledge and experience you've earned so far. This is a spendy hobby, I'm 42, own/operate 4 businesses with my wife and I still had to go to work at the local cstore two nights a week to support it.
Good luck to ya' and hope to see you return to saltwater and 3reef in the future.

I’ll still have my 2.5 gal pico, and I’m not leaving 3reef.
I’ll post about my pico, my freshwater tanks, and my geckos.

At least I’ll still have my pico, and a few corals.
After I have a nice brake, I’ll try a bigger tank, and i'll still be on 3reef

The scary thing is… I used a wall-mart surge protector. When I flooded my room, some water got on the surge protector, and the on/reset switch was melted in place, and the rest of it was warped. I unplugged it, then I picked it up, and it was HOT!!! So it could have caught fire, and if that happened when we were in town, or on tripe, it could have burned the house down! or if we where asleep, we could have died.
