    Wow, RC Part II

Let's all remember to take the time to read all of the posts about things before we start criticizing others. I'm disappointed in the tone of a number of responses that I've seen on this thread but I don't see any purposes in dwelling on it. Let's just remember that we are here, and the majority of us ACTUALLY LIKE EACH OTHER, have a common interest, and like to share.

Is it a good idea to know what you have....heck yeah. I know Schackmel personally and I can tell you that she does NOT skimp on research. When two different fish look as similar as these two and the LFS has it mislabeled, this is nothing more than an honest mistake. Even the wholesaler had the ID wrong and that's why the LFS had it wrong.

As far as returning it to the store, I know the people she contacted for how to care for it the best. I was one of them. However, I guarantee that Lee knows more than all of us put together. This fishes best chance at survival was to remain in her tank rather than allowing it to die on someone else's dime. This fish died due to a broken heater.....not because of her failure.

I certainly hope some people examine their posting style and do some self-reflection.

I agree I don't like the hostility, and I read the original post of her getting the fish, and finding out it was mislabeled and she seemed to have a good grasp on what to do with the fish as much as possible anyway. Karma for the loss once again.

i think you did all you could to learn about that fish. and It was only a twist of fate that you got it. i think you probably did more then i would have, so i don't think its your fault at all, if some one else had of bought it from the lfs it probably wouldn't even have survived half as long. I can't believe people take the oppurtunity to critize you in this thread just to make themselves feel like they know what their talking about.(where did the guy get bb from. you have a pic lol)

anyway sorry for your loss is played out so
sorry for the death of your fish.

I apologize for coming off so gruff earlier...trust me that is not my style normally::) but I am very upset over the loss of this fish..esp over the malfunction of a heater! I had been on other forumns when I first started (just read...was always too afraid to post) where everything came down to "lack of knowledge" or experience....and that is not always the case.

With that said....its over and I thank everyone for their words!

Honestly, did the heater breaking kill him....possibly? I would not have thought that a drop like that would have stressed him out sooo much but it seems odd that he died the same day it happened. He was also in process of shedding his skin, which with the combo of the heater breaking might have placed enough stress on him to kill him....or it could have been feeding as there really is not a lot known about this fish in captivity.

I too would like to express my apologies, I jumped on his bandwagon WITHOUT reading the whole thread. You have every right to express yourself in whatever way you deem fit. I would have reacted the same as you. Once again, Im sorry for your loss and for jumping the gun. Luna
