it has good water flow - its right infront of a powerhead. whenever the polyps do come out i quickly drop some food in, but they hardly ever come out. Im so confused...i've looked them up on the net and some are photosynthetic some arent, but i havent found one that is like mine to give me some correct directions.

Mines orange with purple polyps.... any help woul dbe great, I may take it back to the lfs otherwise

That type of gorgonian is very difficult to keep alive unless you feed it a ton of zooplankton. You might be better off bringing it back to the lfs for store credit.

Along with what type is it ? you may have it in to much flow ?? They like to just be swayed and pushed not blasted directly in front or a p/head.. Is it waxed over ? ever see any signs of it shedding ? If its the orange /red dots with white polyps then its a very difficult gorgonian to get established

Proper feeding is essential and can be done fairly easily with Fauna Marin food products. We have kept several species without any problems.

Most like medium to high water flow and lower light.

You better hope its the easy kind. I just tossed one out the other day, still alive but disintegrating like crazy. Mine did well when feeding it lots of marine plankton and it had nice flow, then i stopped and it went downhill from there.

I think mine must be the super tough sort. I went away for a weekend a few feeks back and when I returned foung mine had fallen/been knocked into the heater this burned the crappers out of it but within 3 weeks its healed up and now always has full polyps out.
    Its brown with whitish polyps
