I've got a ****ty old 48" 4x65 PC fixture now - the fans are wheezing, the legs are broken, and two bulbs need replacing.

What do I buy? T5's or a new PC system?

Here is an example of a cheap 4x54 T5 ($280):
48" Nova Extreme T5 4x54 Watt Aquarium Light

Though I could get the 6x54 for only a little more ($360):
Current USA Nova Extreme Pro T5HO Aquarium Light Fixtures

4x65 PCs are a little cheaper and come with moonlights ($265)
    48" 4x 65watt Lunar Aqualight with 4 Moon LEDs

    Which would you buy?

Buy the 6x54 it gives you more options on the coral you can keep and the spectra you can create.

Go for the nova extreme pro. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I would think the first question is what kind of corals do you have or want to get, that will determine how strong a fixture you'll need without having to replace it again 6 months from now cause you got a new coral that needs more light.
