    I guess I'll never learn.

We've lost our third fuzzy to jumping. I once thought it was a product of having them in a smaller tank, but this tank was a 55g. We had it pretty much covered with eggcrate, except for a feeding hole in the front. But I figured if they popped up through there, they would simply hit the front of the canopy. The eggcrate is slated downwards, so that they will roll back in if they land on the eggrate itself.

The power went off the day before yesterday for 3 hours. When it came back on, he must have startled and jumped. Everyone was pretty much hiding, but I did think it weird that I couldn't see him in particular. But it was right as I was leaving for work... out the door I went leaving my little friend behind the tank.

Now we're either going to just eggcrate off the entire back vertically, or cover the feeding hole with a removable piece.

Not only have I lost 3 fuzzies to jumping, but I've returned many carpet lint covered fuzzies back to the tank alive. During feeding, I'd have the lid open. I would, of course, observe them closely at that time. They would start to get uncomfortable with the staring, and bail. Several times we heard a BANG! as the fuzzy jumped and hit the lid of the JBJ. It would get caught on top of the luer lock output fittings all the time (out of the water). THEN there was another in an open top QT that bailed in the middle of the night, fell behind the dresser into one of the drawers.

Sorry to hear, that's frustrating & expensive, I feel your pain. Had jumpers before i decided to make the DIY BRS 1/4 mesh top and I love it & have no more worries. Why not make one, they're cheap & easy to build and fit super nicely. Here's the vid on how & if you need any info just PM me, I got my materials from Home Depot really cheap & just got the mesh via BRS:

Those were all lions. I've now also lost 2 scorps to Crispification. It's the number one killer in my house. I do not listen to my own lips flappin'. I even had all the mesh parts to build one.... like a year ago.
