Unresolved Got a huge problem i think

    I just tested my calcium and it said i was at 1500 PP/L. Is that bad? i followed the exact directions. What should i do?

    Are you adding Ca supplements? What kinda test kit you using? Most likely not using the test correctly.
    Sit down, read the directions, step-by-step Try again.

    def have something going on with the testing here...
    1. I have never heard of pp/l?
    2. to sustain 1500ppm your magnesium has to be through the roof!
    3. what tests do u use, what size tank?

    The tank is a 55 gallon soft coral reef. I do 10% water changes weekly. Also i have a monti cap from a friends tank that is huge

    mg /liter is the same as ppm. so the test is either bad or its being used wrong what brand of test is it

    I may be wrong because im not the best at stoichiometry... but that is only for pure water. for the water in our tank we would have to take the mass of the water which is not pure (Ca, Na, Cl, Mg, I per mole) to figure it into ppm

    but maybe im looking to much into it?

    yea your right but its close enough for a decent approximation. and is definitely enough to say that 1500 mg/L is very very unlikely

    You guys are right just retested it and got 500'ish, it was a little lower though. Is that still to high?

    500 is a little high but not overly dangerous if your alk is at an ok level. just dont dose calcium for a bit until its down near 460
