What are your thoughts on the kindle? My wife keeps eyeballing them & they seem like the best option in digital tablets at the moment. The only thing that makes me leary is since the kindles invent they come up with a new kindle model almost every 3 months, and normally when electronics do that the tech support & stuff for past models quickly dries up. I guess the other downside would be the 100 gigs of itunes songs & movies & stuff I got.

 

No offense to anyone but id get the iPad over anything else on the market. I like the bigger App store and better OS.

I dont think anyone will take offense to it. Everyone has thier personal opinions. I was just looking for personal observations and of course the kindle is the latest greatest piece of keeping up with the jones'. If I were to get one I would probably just go with the ipad based on the mountain of money already sunk into apps, movies, music and all the other goodies.

Very very different uses...
Ipad is not a good reader, imo, as it's difficult to hold with one hand. Great entertainment device though. (personally I like my samsung 10.1 better though )


I just bought my GF the Kindle fire and she absolutely LOVES it!! But if you want a strict reader, the Kindle original with it's paper look is the best overall reader (debateable against the nook paper looking one)


@op - If you have an apex you can get the apex program written by henryh. It's a great display of your tank parameters that updates every 5minutes! (I can turn pumps/lights/etc on and off too!)

 

I am a die hard apple fan. But ill be honest and say the fire won me over. It depends what you want the tablet for. The ipad does it all bluetooth optional 3g it pretty much replaces a laptop at 500 dollars. The fire was a gift and at 199 i can play a few games read anybook docs magazines chat email most of the options minus bluetooth and 3G i watch movies via netflix. I think if i were to buy id wait and see what the new kindle fire 2 and ipad 3 has to offer and compare to your needs

 

I went with the Nook. The ability to read any file type not just the kindle format is why I choose it. Also the DRM on the kindle is a deal breaker for me. Just my opinion.

 

As an avid reader (4-6hrs a day) I love my Kindle with WiFi. Light weight for sure. I am looking at the Kindle Fire come tax return but from all the reviews I've been reading about it, the heavier weight might be it's down fall for me, which would keep me from buying it
