Rescued em from the evil clutches of PetCo. Surprisingly they looked pretty healthy and weren't too spendy so I jumped on em. Decided to get them both at once so if they were bossy they'd start on equal footing. Super excited right now. I'll take pics when they stop hiding amongst the rocks and Chaeto.

How big is the hawkfish right now? Got any small fish or shrimp to worry about? Kudos on rescuing them. I love our little gramma. You will too

I'd say he's about 2 inches long. The Royal Gramma is slightly smaller than he is but still a decent size for a new purchase. The only other inhabitants are an Onyx clown thats shocked to have other fish in there with him and some big hermits. The clown is about 2 inches as well but he never leaves his little security blanket corner area unless he sees me then he gets all excited and thinks he's gonna get fed. Fatty. The gramma is hiding in the rocks under the pump the clown "hosts" and he popped up and decided to see what was so special about it and the clown was staring him down. Haha that's HIS skimmer pump and nobody else can have any part of it.

My wife insists on naming them silly obvious names. The clown's name is Onyx and she just informed me the gramma is now Pinky and the hawk is Spot. Haha I refuse to call them by their names.

Sounds like a great new home!

We named our gramma "Mardi" since the colors remind us of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Cheeky!

    Hope so = )

I'm wondering if my hermits are ok with the hawkfish. I know he will hurt small shrimp but I just saw him try to get a hermit. The hermit just ducked in his shell but I don't know if he'll get lucky and nab one by surprise. I love those crazy lil hooligans and don't want to see him kill them all. I think maybe the big hermits will be fine cause theyre about the size of a quarter but the smaller ones might be in for it:confused:

More than likely just a tester. He'll probably leave them alone after failed attempts at getting in to the shell. Keep the shrimp out of there though ;)

Haha will do. His favorite perch is on the clowns pump and the clown doesn't like it at all. He's been alone for 2 months now and obviously enjoyed it. Last fish eventually going in there are a midas blenny, some sort of dwarf angel and maybe a yellow tang. The last two will be 4 or 5 months from now. I wanted a wrasse but I dont have jump protection.
