got eaten?

hi all ! i bought a cleaner shrimp and a rose bubbletip anemone this week end. the next day i couldn't find the shrimp nether today! my question is can the bta have eaten the shrimp? the anemone looks very good today and its foot is pretty big.

It's possible. Your cleaner might just be hiding really well though. I just bought a pepermint the other day and was sure I'd somehow killed it already cause I couldn't find it anywhere for about 3 days, so I went and bought two others and then low and behold the original saw some new buddies and came out. They all still hide pretty well but I can see some antena's every once in a while... Anywho, If it's still fairly new it could just be shy. Hopefully it wasn't lunch, $30-ish is an expensive meal.

 

What kind of shrimp are you talking about? I have found that fire (aka flame) shrimp and peppermint shrimp are pretty shy when the aquarium lights are on unless you keep them in larger groups. Skunks, on the other hand, are usually out and about all the time.

It's possible that it's molting. I've read that some shrimp and crabs will do that as a stress reaction when they're introduced to a new tank. Give it another week or so before you count the shrimp out

 

thats what i will do anyways, tonight i will be adding a sixline wrasse and we will see if the shrimp gets out of wherever he is!

 

A wrasse might act aggressively towards cleaner shrimp so keep that in mind when you add the 6-line to your tank

 

well i really need that wrasse i've got a big flatworm outbreak, if the cleaner is still in the tank i hope they get along since the wrasse is smaller than the shrimp! if its not there i might not get another shrimp anyways.
