They do make a gallon unit and I think Dr. Foster and smith have them.

I think it was TDevil that has plans for a DIY drip unit and I will have to talk to him again about that.

So your not worried about your SG getting to low with using both drip/auto top off?

I have noticed the residue but no clogs yet. I had to change the location of the roller or pincher thing because drip rate was to fast or to slow. I wish they used a bigger hose also.

You should create one and get a patent.[/quote]

I wish I had 10 grand around to get a patent on something! ;D

The top off is for the evap as adding that much kalk I would assume would be way to much. (1.2 gallons to 1.5 gallons a day) I am only using 1000 ml (like a quart) of kalk a day and depending how I mix and drip it. The last batch was half a ts so need to test tonight for new mix.
Anyway the amount of evap is greater then then kalk drip. Depending on the alk and cal test results then I add the 2 part Calxmax or turbo calcium if to low and part B alk if needed also. but really still trying to find the happy medium here and the SG has not moved off of 1.024 or with boomers +1 = 1.025 on the refractometer.

mix the kalk up (some use a separate container to do this. Add it to this container and I put the end of the drip just above the water line in the sump.
They have this little roller that pinches the drip tube and you set it where you want it count the drip rate into the sump area. Pinch more if wanting a slower rate or release for a faster rate.

do u have to put it in a sump. can't u put it in the main tank or a refuge. How much kalk do u think I would use for a 55 gal. aquarium. How much a month do u spend on kalk. Do u have your kent marine aqua doser hanging above it. Or is it the non hanging version.
