I got my Metal Halide HQI fixture from DR. Foster and Smith yesterday! It is the marineland 48" Pro 24hr lighting fixture with 2x 150w HQIs, 4x54W T5 Actinics, and 4 Moonlight LED's! It is awesome. I paid a lot of money for it as many people mentioned on here but when I plugged that baby in, I was in amazement. I don't know why I had never just bought this in the first place!!! I had a JBJ 48" 4x65w PC fixture and it sucks compared to this. The actinics on that thing did nothing for my coral colors like this new fixture does! Even the Moonlight LEDs make my coral colors POP. Man, I am in love! ha ha ha.

Downside... I put the fixture on and it is a bit too wide for my 55 gallon's measly 13". So, I drove 2 hours and bought a 75 drilled from a guy on craigslist.

One, question... This pre-drilled tank has two holes/bulkheads. One is Bigger than the other, does anyone know why and why there are two holes? I am new to this whole pre-drilled thing.

Before anyone complains about pictures here you go! The first one is a before when it was just the Power Compact Fixture. The second is with the HQIs installed. The last two are just the moonlight LED lights!

It's hard to believe anyone even uses PC lights. When I first started looking into this hobby I sort of laughed at the PC's and figured nobody would even consider them unless it was a FOWLR. A nice T5 and MH setup is the way to go!

Large hole is for your water coming from your DT going to your sump and small hole is your return back to your DT

I was lucky. I went to look at some lights to upgrade the lights on my 55 and the wife talked me into going with the entire 180 gallon tank and lights. I am lucky I guess. Still putting the 180 together but should be moving water in 2 weeks. Good luck with the new tank.
