Hey.. I got this cheap at the lfs and it looked like this when I got it. I have had it for about a month now and it has looked the same.. so it hasnt gotten worse..

First question is what kind of coral is it?

Second: Should I leave it or should I frag it.. iodine dip.. to fix it? I was told at the lfs if i take it home and it doesnt get any worse to just leave it and it will re-encrust and fix itself. The bottom was white cause they had it jammed into the sand..

    Thanks

ok.. since i took this picture I actually got a frag rack and put it up there pretty close to the top. Do you think I should just leave it and hope it re encrusts or would you frag it out?

Hard to tell from the picture if it is healthy. But if it is showing polyp extension and the coloration has maintained since you got it I would not frag it yet. I myself would probably glue to a plug or a piece of lr rubble.

A month is not that long for an sps, it probably acclimated and is just now to beginning to grow. I would give it about 3 months to show some good growth.

Looks like a nice purple one from the picture. Treat it the same as most sps, monitor ca, alk, mg and pH levels for optimal growth. Good lighting....

Either a digitata or a stylopora. Either way.. it looks to be on the mend. At the base of the right side you can see it starting to encrust again.

Leave it and maintain water quality. You are doing good so far.
