I recently lost my Coperband. Pretty upset about it cause I tried my damnest to keep the guy with a good diet.

He did do some great justice by eating tons of aiptasia I had. That was the only reason why I added him. But no more aiptasia thanks to the copperband. Im hopin one wont sprout after him leaving the tank.

Copperbands are pretty fish and imo should be appreciated more than their abilities to destroy aiptasia.

I'm thinking about the purple tangs and the chevron tang that would disapear furing the first month.

:furious3::furious3:!@#$%$#@ anemone didn't read the chapter that says he prefers the sand. My wife just called to let me know that the anemone decided to explore one of the powerheads. I can't survey the damage in person but my wife turned off the powerhead and says that she still can't get him pulled out. That doesn't sound very encouraging. I'll know more when I can see things first hand.

I no! Did she pull the powerhead and nem? Better to move them into some kind of QT now rather than risk all your live stock going down hill until you can get home.

to be completely honest... I was really really surprised you put an anemone in such a young tank to begin with... or in a tank this size at all.

    Good luck.

On other things, have you been monitoring your Ca levels? I'm curious if you noticed any big dip in them since you added sooo much livestock (I don't think you have your reactor hooked up yet??).

Well, to be completely honest, it seems to me this tank build has broken most of the "rules" I read about. How much at a time and how fast and when to start stocking etc...

Do large volume tanks not need to cycle? Can they generally handle the amounts of fish you have added in such a short time?

I get dilution and all that... Maybe rules are different for the big tanks... I don't know. Just a bit concerned about the long term prospects.

I was also thinking GTS was moving a little quick on the fish, but then again I only have a 30 gallon, so it could be completely different.

    Wagon wheel scolymia?

Most folks call those bleeding apple scoly's.;) That is a nice one btw:)

As far as the frogspawn, you might want to get that away from your prism favia. All euphyllia (hammers, torch, frogspawn) have a very nasty sting and will nuke most other corals. I had my aussie cream hammer toch my micromussa and it killed that part of the micro very quickly.

I have had my CB B in my sump for close to a month now. It does well and eats a lot. It really likes the rods reef food. it also destroys any aiptasia I transfer from the DT to the sump.

I can't wait to catch my maroon clown and put her in the sump, and get the 3 fish in the sump, into the DT.

I think CB B 's get a bad rap on being fragile when IME, powder blue tangs and powder browns are far more tricky to keep. Maybe too many folks try a CB B in a small tank? I dunno.

I do know that live aquaria has Cb B's on special now for like 21 dollars. with their 14 day guarantee, that is a hard deal to pass on. I have not heard of CB B's going after tridacna clams. I have heard of one that ate acans, but that was an isolated case, and probably because he did not feed the fish much. If you keep them fed a lot like my fired does in his 120g, his CB B leaves everything alone.

I thought the same about the rate the stocking is moving for this tank, but you have to think of how fast the waste from new fish is going to dilute into the system. With as much water volume as GTS has in his system is he really moving that fast? I'm sure adding four "poop machine" surgeon fish to most systems would cause a significant jump in fish waste, but I don't think you would notice with as much water and live rock in this system.

I was a bit shocked when I saw that you added a nem however. That's a big risk to take in even smaller more established systems. With the amount of coral and fish you already have in there I would put some major thought into such a risk.

Hopefully the nem will make it. In a new tank, a nem will move around quite a bit.

I too wouldn't put a nem in a newly cycled tank.

I did however put my BTA's from my 90g into my new 193g, but all the rock was existing LR, and I used as much old water from the 90g as I could, over a week or 2 of water changes. All that was new was the majority of the sand. My nems have remained pretty stationary, and my RBTA split after the tank swap.
