K+ for just being too good at this. I'm going to mount this in the ceiling above the tank. It has a wireless remote control that's not much bigger than a quarter and it will raise my canopy to the ceiling in about 30 seconds with automatic stops in both the up and down positions.

Dude...that's AWESOME!!! :D I had no clue what it was, but now that I know, it just makes it 10x better.

What if you started filling your mixing vat early on in the plumbing so you could have some fresh RO already standing by? Because for me, waiting 8 days to fill up a tank would drive me absolutely insane :p We just got our booster pump in for our RO unit, and of coure there are no instrutions. Luckily for me it seems really straight forward, except I'd rather just flip a switch and let the water run. With the booster pump I'll have to do three different actions to get water coming out properly, oh the horror. Where's the remote? ::)

cool actuator.. I thought it was one of those tracks that coral farmers have for their MH lights that go back and forth across the tank to cut down on energy usage..

I'm not sure I would risk potential problems with a system like this just because I wanted to save some time by using tap water to fill instead of RO/DI. That would be a shame.. Take your time and do it right like everything else you've already done..

I'd bet a few dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts that GoToSleep was completely kidding about the garden hose. Now, he might have been talking about making all the RO/DI water first, storing it, and using a garden hose to deliver it to the tank--but I'm certain that will all the time and effort he's put in thus far; he wouldn't even consider filling that tank with tap water from a garden hose.

I'm sure he'd light himself on fire and run through a meth lab before he did that!! :)

:yelrotflm K+ for the laugh Sparky. For anyone who hasn't read the What's the Biggest Mistake You've Made In This Hobby? my answer was using tap water. I wouldn't fill this with tap water to save a month or a $1000.

JWIN, I'll start making RO/DI tomorrow. That gives me about 8 days to get my aquascaping done.

So I worked all night last night with no real sleep to speak of and then worked on the tank for most of the day today. I got a couple of extra 20A GFCI circuits in place for my lighting and Joe and I spent over 7 hours working on the plumbing. We are almost finished with the plumbing now and I've got over 20 pics uploading to photobucket as I type this. I'll try to get the pics on 3reef tomorrow.

I didn't want to chance Luna coming after me so ...

This is me after being up all night and armed with the latest model from SuperSoaker. It promises near drowning to any who dare oppose me within reach of the Barracuda power cord. Jason, I hope you appreciate the vintage shirt. I got that the same day that I pickup my Craig Kelly 'Air 6.1'.

Maybe you could raise the floor 4" or 6" and put your water and electric under there.
