I'm just kidding of course. The last time I had a tank, I had mushrooms and leather coral. I've got a better budget this time around and I'm planning a mixed reef with some clams thrown in for good measure. I'm still doing my research as to which specific corals will be in the tank but I will have a wide variety. I think that I'll have good conditions to support most anything and some good options for light levels depending on where things are positioned in the tank.

doesnt look like there is a lot of room to play with above the skimmer, if it doesnt work in that area do you have another area to play with?

It would be a lot of fun for a small investment. I could set it up for the grand unveiling of my tank at my inaugeral hosting of the Richmond Reef Club. Unfortunately, some bells cannot be unrung and I'm afraid that I'd never be able to get them all out of there. My LFS keeps extolling the virtues of Black Tangs and Cross Hatch Triggers. Maybe I'll just show up there with my shopping list. "I'd like 1 male and 14 female YTD's" or should I ask for 1 female and 14 males? I'm really not sure how it works with damsels.

Failure is not an option . I knew the 'optimal' working depth for this skimmer when I set things up and planned for possibly raising it as much as an inch. If things went really bad, it would be easier for me to drain the sump, cut out the weir on that side, and glue in a shorter weir before refilling the sump than it would be to move the skimmer to a new location. To say that there's not much free space in my equipment closet would be a major understatement ::)

Yes, I'm doing a fishless cycle. I did add another 50 or so pounds of (not quite) dry rock to the tank last week. The rock had a little bit of a smell to it and it got a nice ammonia spike for me. I have been testing my ammonia levels every few days but my test kit takes 15 minutes for ammonia so I not too excited about doing it every day. I also picked up a SeaChem AmmoniaAlert Seachem. Ammonia Alert
and put it in the tank just for fun. It's still showing a low but detectable ammonia level.
