I really like the purple tang. Beautiful fish.

 

There are a few differences between the Black and Yellow Tang. The most important of them is the fact that the Black Tang is less likely to get sick. It can withstand changes in water conditions better. And of course it's about $470 more. It also has a longer snoot, it's snoot makes up 30% of it's body length. The other thing is if you spend this kind of money on a fish you will make sure your tank is very well taken care of.

 

I have a nice Purple Tang, he minds his own business and doesn't bother anyone. My African Hippo Tang drives my Sohal Tang crazy. The sohal chases his around but the hippo can fit into crevices that the sohal can't. Then like nothing happens between them for hours and they pass each other without a problem. These are some of the special moments only an aquarist can relate to.

 

I personally like the black tangs. I was planning on getting one for my tank (If i win the lottery. lol)

 

I would love to get a Black tang but my Purple Tang might kill him and then I would have a mini heart attack! But, I can't afford one anyway so it doesn't matter.

I have an Asphur Angel that I remember selling for $1,000 or better back in the 90's that I paid $90 for 6 months ago. The owner of the fish store explained that they were rare and hard to find but then they found a bunch of them in various areas and hence the price dropped. Maybe it could happen with the Black Tang at which time I would have to send my Purple Tang packing! Just kidding!;D
