Let's just say it made the "pardon me ma'am, do you have a dime?" ploy, a lot easier.

 

I would say a good 50% of the shrimp I got molted within a week...

then died within another three... I gave up on shrimp :-/ I can't figure out what my problem is with them!

 

I'm not sure whether to laugh or to cry but I am a little bit encouraged. It really did look like a molt rather than an entire carcass and it was (is?) a really cool looking shrimp.

 

3 purple tangs? I am behind on this thread, awesome!

Yeah I love my purple, I am interested to see if they will eventually beat each other..

If you were on the go big or go home tangent you should have gotten a gemmatus or a black or hell a Sohal.

My pistol shrimp molted right after I got him. Also, is yours one that "snaps"? If so, you might be able to hear him at night. That's when I hear mine, usually about an hour after lights out.

 

Hopefully you won't have any aggression issues with any of those 3 purple tangs. I am sure you are aware that resident PT's are among the meanest of any tangs to newcomers.

I am very happy to see that you now have fish in your tank.

Very nice choice in the christmas wrasse though. Any idea what variety (island) that christmas wrasse is from? There are a couple different subspecies, even though theya re all listed as the same fish according to genus and species. For instance, the ones from Fiji look much different than the ones from Hawaii.
