Actually, in SCUBA there are such things as "pony bottles" or rescue bottles for divers who run out of air and aren't near a buddy. They give about 5 minutes of air, and you won't have to wear tons of other equipment like a BC and large tank and hoses hanging around. If you have a local dive shop nearby, they'd probably refill it for you. But this would be a slightly complicated, almost unnecessary way to do things.

Your LR looks like there's enough room to stand in the middle of your tank. If worst does indeed come to worst, you actually could snorkel in your tank to place corals.

Hey GTS, after looking at that FTS I thought to myself, "self, did I miss some monumental change? Did GTS downgrade his tank?" Then I read what you said about the frogspawn being the size of a cantelope lol.

All the shots so far are under two 400W MH with 14K coralvue bulbs. I have another two MH fixtures over the tank that I'll turn on in the next few days and I'm also going to put four 160W VHOs with 454 bulbs. That should hopefully help bring out the colors. I also just picked up some moon lights too. I'm planning on getting all the lights connected to my controller but I'm looking at several hours of work just to get the wires run where I want them to go-- The lights get fixed in the canopy making sure that there is enough slack in the wires to permit the canopy lift to operate but being careful that no slack wires dip into the tank. The wires leave the back of the canopy through a ventialtion hole in the wall behind the tank, enter the equipment closet behind the 200g make-up vat end then head up through the ceiling to reach mechanical room overhead. All the ballasts are up there away from theat and salt spray. The power strip for my Profilux controller has 6 outlets but it's only rated for 15 amps so four 400W ballasts just about max it out. It looks like I'm going to have to pick up another power strip for the two IceCap 430 VHO ballasts, my new 175W MH ballast for the frag tank, and the Profilux Simu-L light stick that that has red, blue, white, and flash LEDs.

Love your tank GTS. It's a breath of fresh air after all the work you've put into this incredible project. Lets break out the finest of wines and tenderest of steaks and sit back and enjoy this moment and know that this is just the beginning of a true thing of beauty! My friend you are there.;)

:hehe: Well, in a perfect world, that might work. Once you see them start to completely cover the rock that they're on, you'll see why I avoid them. Polyps will start to hop off the rock and will populate other areas of your tank. I have seen many a tank overrun with mushrooms and they kill everything that gets in their way.

SIMPLY AMAZING!!! I just spent the last two days reading your build thread and I can't imagine the feelings of joy you are having right now. WOW! You have spent a lot of time and managed through a lot of troubles to get to this lovely spot you are at. Keep up the good work and continue to enjoy your ocean in a box.
