Gotta move the thermostat!

    So I'm a big dummy and now that it's summer time. I'm realizing that my thermostat is waaaay too close to my tank! Seems my a/c unit runs all the time! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372599712.931818.jpg

    What's everyone else's story on there huge electric bill? Lol

    Is that a chiller on the floor beneath the t'stat? If so, the warm exhaust is likely rising right up to it. Try moving the chiller to the opposite side of the tank if you can.

    It is a chiller, however it never kicks on. I think the heat from the metal halide lighting is keeping the thermostat going

    Ah...I assumed the lights were probably a lower-heat technology. They might be the problem if you can feel the heat from the t'sat's location. Maybe a cooling fan is blowing that way?

    I think you just need to move your tank j/k find out how the heat from the halides is being picked up by the thermostat and hopefully adjust that source away from it.

    Lol! Yeah I moved the thermostat around the corner in the hallway and it's doing much better!
