With a 90G display tank upstairs and the overflow going to a sump in the basement with part of the flow going through a fuge first and then into the sump how many GPH should be returning to the tank . I have read that you want the tank to turn over 30 times per hour is there a magic number of how fast through the sump . I know if you go to fast the skimmer will not have time to do it's thing . I plan on having skimmer heater and auto top off in the sump (100 galon stock tank ) trying to decide how big of a pump I need . Thanks for any input .

10x turnover through the sump is the GROT.

    main tank:
the overflow in the main tank is probably rated up to 600 gph, the rest of the flow in the tank depends on which corals are housed, my sps tank has a turnover rate of about 80x/hr.

    fuge:
flow should come from main tanks drain line split to go to the sump and fuge with a control valve.

    skimmer:
each one has its own gph rate, a seperate pump is a good idea.

    sump:
a separate supply going into the sump to stir the bottom is a good idea.
