It will also aggrevate and stress out corals, due to the hair algae's ability to limit light and rub against their skeleton/polyps! It is possible that it will release toxins into the water as well!
I have hair algae...which I don't mind as it is a beneficial food source for my Pencil Urchin, which it devours quickly!

    where's your tang

    HI,
of all the algae eating critters in my tank the coral beauty and my tang are algae pigs, they cleaned up my tank in a day or two and there's 50 + pound of live rock to groom.
Just be sure your phos is low <1 is ideal.
If you scrape it may spread and your going to release alot of spores and phos waste back into your water, do yo have skimmers, sumps, dsb.

a reforguim with spirella/light will help depeate any nitrates and phos I started using alittle phos absorption in my filter pads and some carbon in other.
    It sure looks pretty.
.that small of tank will have problems faster than large ones.
I wonder if anyone shares a water column with a micro tank, might be easy to do, and you would have less problems. My 37 gal shares water with my 55 and the 20 gal sump so my total water column is the total of all three.

LM bleeny likes food to much

    HI,
I feed spirella flake daily to improve the health of my fish well, mr Bleeny loves spirella and seem to ignore the rock but a tang and coral beauty only supplement their diet with Flake and work the rock as long as the lights are on. Ps your bulbs are good in your light not to old, many algae seem to like porr lighting, and excees time I have mine on timer for 8 hours a day any longer and I get bloomes.
