gravel in a FO tank?

    can i use gravel in a FO tank with live rock? would that be ok or do absolutely need sand? it is ffine gravel much like CC but i have some bigger pieces that i could use if need be. thanks guys and gals!

    You can use gravel if you wish, you just will need to vacuum the gravel with water changes and if there are any wrasses you want in there you would want to put them in then. A one inch sand bed with sps flow will work as a denitrator.

    it has two powerheads adn an undergravel filter. what are some downsides to using gravel instead of sand? my lfs uses gravel for their more aggresive fish. any downsides?

    Nitrate factory if not properly cleaned and as I said not wrasse safe if want wrasses.

    so it would just be better to use sand in the long run for the fish? i will if it will be better for them.

    I don't see why you wouldn't just use sand. It looks better anyhow.

    yea but i have to buy more sand if i were to use it.
