    i now have about an inch of crushed coal in my tank and no undergravel filter i want a full reef eventually is it posable to take out the grave and put in sand instead without draining the tank? i have a wet/dry with skimmer.

    Anything is possible... How much of a mess are you willing to put up with?
    Because you are looking at a big one! It would help if you had another tank to hold everything temporarily while you removed the gravel and replaced it with sand. Remember to rinse aragonite sand about 5 times before it goes in the tank. Can you say CLOUDY ;)
    I have 1 tank with crushed coral and another with sand. Is there any reason you want to swap it out?

    I recently swiped out cc and sand, and just put in agaronite sand. It was a task, but it was worth it. What is currently in your tank?
