    Great deal numero dos

So I posted a thread a while back about a sweet deal that I got on a piece of LR that was practically covered in green colony polyps and also had a crazy awesome maroon colored mushroom and several feather dusters on it.

Well I dropped by the same LFS yesterday to pick up a couple of Narite snails to take care of a little extra clean up, and I spotted a sweet bright green Rhodactis mushroom. It was sitting on the substrate next to a rock covered in the same kind of mushrooms. The covered rock was listed for $50, but there was no price for the single one. So while my snail was getting fished out of his tank, I asked about the single mushroom. The owner said he wasn’t even aware that it was in there. I asked what he would take for it, and he let me have it for $8…no tax. Pretty cool!

Then as I was following him to the register, I spotted a small, 1” frag of some sort of zoa. They are a dusty shade of purple. I asked about it (really just more curious about what it was) and he said ‘Eh, not exactly sure. All I know is that it’s some sort of zoa…If you promise to come back with a frag off of it I’ll let you have it for $5…’ SOLD!

So not a bad day for me and my tank if I do say so myself.

I wish I had a store like that around me, I can't get anything decent for less than $40-50

That is usually the case here as well, but i know my LFS pretty well. And if he has anything that is sort of odd or that he normally doesn't sell, then i will get it for pretty cheap. The thing is that saltwater tanks are just not a popular thing in my local area. Its a pretty small town and there isn't a huge demand for anything that isn't bought and sold on broad scale. So i tend to be the guy that gets the odds and ends and therefor i get good deals:)

    Good deal !!
I'm the same way.. My LFS knows I'll take whats to small to sell, etc..
I don't mind having to grow it out.. So I get good deals.. She knows that's what I come in looking for..

    Nice Score.. Larry

exactly what I do, one of the store owners absolutely hates me to so I avoid that place like the plague, mainly cause I told someone he was getting gouged once before when the dude said he had aiptasia and the owner tried to sell him like 20 peppermint shrimp for a 55g tank
