    Stay out of Petco.
Take the rock and out of your tank unless you want that green hair on your other rocks.
Im sure someone else can tell you the proper way to clean it.
    Good Luck

    Welcome to 3reef.

I suspect from your description that it is Green Hair Algae (GHA), not a good thing really.

Without an image to verify it's only a guess.

If you need assistance with how to treat it let us know and we can steer you in the right direction.

Thank you for the image. Hard to tell if it is GHA or turf algae or something else, water is a little too cloudy.

If it was my rock, I would remove it, and scrub it clean in some sw, and rinse and place back in display.

I have made the mistake of adding rocks with algae, and not intervening and having a much harder removing it later on.

Wow, that's totally covered. Any other place you can buy saltwater stuff besides Petco? Their rock and livestock are usually very bad. Looks like your store is no exception.
